    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound useful as a raw material for medicines with slight formation of by-products in excellent space and time yield and in a high conversion ratio, by taking out a mixture containing a specific amount of β-isophorone from a reaction solution during isomerization of α-isophorone by distillation. SOLUTION: While (A) 3,5,5-trimethylcyclohexa-2-en-1-one is isomerized by (B) a catalyst [e.g. a (mixed) oxide of the groups IIa and VIII of the periodic table, to be concrete, Ca or Mg(mixed) oxide or Co or Ni (mixed) oxide], a mixture containing 0.5-75wt.%, preferably 0.5-40wt.% of 3,5,5- trimethylcyclohexa-3-en-I-one (β-isophorone) is taken out by distillation and β-isophorone is isolated by vacuum distillation from the mixture.

    Abstract: Postupak za proizvodnju 3,5,5-trimetilcikloheksa-3-en-1-ona (Гџ-izoforona). Pronalazak se odnosi na jedan postupak za proizvodnju jedinjenja iz naslova izomerizacijom 3,5,5-trimetilcikloheksa-2-n-1-ona (α-izoforona) u tečnoj fazi i u prisustvu jednog sonog ili metalno-organskog katalizatora. Primenom katalitičkih količina soli alkalnih ili zemnoalkalnih metala i njihovih organskih jedinjenja i bez dodavanja još nekog pomoćnog materijala, uspeva se sa jednim jeftinim, lako dobavljivim katalizatorom da se zapreminsko-vremenski prinos pri proizvodnji Гџ-izoforona podigne na nivo, pogodan za industrijsku primenu i istovremeno da se jedan, sam po sebi poznat, postupak jasno poboljša. Гџ-izoforoni su posebno pogodni kao medjuproizvodi pri proizvodnji ketoizoforona.[Invention refers to procedure for the production of a compound from the title by isomerisation of 3,5,5 - thrymethylhexa-2-en-1-ones (alfa-isophorones) in the liquid phase and in the presence of one sones or methal organic cathalyst. By the application of catalyst amounts of salts of alcale or earth alcaline metals and their organic compounds without adding some auxilliary material, it is achieved that with one cheap, easily obtainable cathalyst the volume in time accumulation in the production of Beta isophorons is elevated at the level appropriate for industrial application and, at the same time, one already known procedure is distinctly improved. Beta isophorons are particularly suitable as the intermediate products in the production of keto-isophorones.
