    Abstract: Berlin blue is produced by converting (a) calcium ferrocyanide, sodium ferrocyanide or magnesium ferrocyanide with (b) an iron II salt at a pH below 7 to an acidic iron II salt of ferrocyanic acid FeH2(Fe(CN)6). The calcium or sodium ions can be washed out of the precipitate of the ferrocyanic salt. The precipitate is treated with (c) an inorganic or organic potassium salt to form Berlin white and then oxidized to Berlin blue. Alternatively, (a), (b) and (c) can be reacted together at a temperature of 20* to 60*C. to form Berlin white directly.

    Abstract: The present invention provides in a process for producing a finely divided silica by spray drying in a spray drier a sprayable highly concentrated silica suspension, which is low in grit content the improvement in which the spray drying is carried out in the presence of a base or of a basic-reacting substance in an amount sufficient for complete or partial neutralization of the acid present in the suspension originating as acid used as a dispersing agent or of acid still present in redispersed filter cake or for alkaline adjustment to yield a dried silica with a pH value greater than 6.0.

    Abstract: A mass of finely divided material is confined in a chamber. Two rollers are arranged for rotation in the chamber in axial parallelism with one another and defined with each other a narrow longitudinally extending gap. At least one of the rollers has a circumferential wall composed of gas-permeable porous material. This one roller is hollow and arranged to communicate with a source of underpressure so that, as the roller rotates, the particulate material is attracted onto its outer surface forming a layer thereon which is subjected to substantial compaction when it passes through the gap between the two rollers. The rollers rotate in opposite direction. The compacted material is removed from the outer surface of the roller or rollers and subdivided into portions of desired size.
