    Abstract: There is set forth a process for the production of furnace black comprising spraying an oily carbon black forming material into a stream of hot combustion gases produced by reaction of fuel with reaction air, chilling and recovery of the carbon black by separation from the waste gases during which the reaction air is heated by means of waste gases. The waste gases are burned in a combustion apparatus by means of secondary air in order to heat the reaction air to a temperature between 600 DEG and 1,250 DEG C., preferably between 800 DEG and 1100 DEG C. and the thus heated reaction air is then introduced into the process.

    Abstract: Carbon black is produced in a flow reaction by spraying a hydrocarbon containing liquid feedstock with the aid of a propellant gas into a stream of hot reaction gases produced by burning a fuel, the feedstock-propellant gas-jet enters the reaction zone with a spraying angle that is greater than the spreading angle of a free jet. There is also described an apparatus for carrying out the process which comprises a binary injector supporting an atomizing nozzle whose head has several channels which are adjusted from zero degrees to different angles to the longitudinal axis of the nozzle.

    Abstract: An apparatus is provided for removal of grit from a finely dispersed solid containing gas stream serving for the pneumatic conveyance of this material, the apparatus comprising a closed separator housing having a funnel shaped lower portion, a supply tube for the conveying gas stream opening laterally in the upper part of the housing, an outlet tube (in a given case connected to a vacuum source) for purified finely dispersed solid disposed opposite the supply tube in the upper part of the housing, a vertically disposed connecting piece between the lower end of the funnel shaped lower portion and a discharge valve, an axially disposed cap shaped displacement member open at its lower end in said connecting piece and of lesser diameter whereby an annular gap is formed between the displacement member and the connecting piece and a supply tube for furnishing a secondary gas stream to the interior of said displacement member. There is also described the process of removing the grit from the finely divided solid using this apparatus.
