Abstract: sistema e método para controle em tempo real de um dispositivo autônomo. a presente invenção refere-se a um veículo autônomo que contém sensores vantajosamente variados em capacidades, vantajosamente posicionados e vantajosamente impermeáveis às condições ambientais. a presente invenção também se refere a um sistema, que é executado no veículo autônomo, e que pode receber um mapa incluindo, por exemplo, características de superfície substancialmente descontínuas juntamente com os dados provenientes dos sensores, criar uma grade de ocupação baseada no mapa e nos dados e alterar a configuração do veículo autônomo com base no tipo de superfície na qual o mesmo navega. o dispositivo pode navegar com segurança por superfícies e características de superfície, incluindo atravessar superfícies descontínuas e outros obstáculos.

Abstract: An autonomous vehicle having sensors advantageously varied in capabilities, advantageously positioned, and advantageously impervious to environmental conditions. A system executing on the autonomous vehicle that can receive a map including, for example, substantially discontinuous surface features along with data from the sensors, create an occupancy grid based upon the map and the data, and change the configuration of the autonomous vehicle based upon the type of surface on which the autonomous vehicle navigates. The device can safely navigate surfaces and surface features, including traversing discontinuous surfaces and other obstacles.
