592,701. Tapping; inserting studs. DODD, J. Aug. 29, 1945, Nos. 22222 and 27698. [Class 83 (iii)] In a machine attachment for tapping holes or screwing up studs &c. and embodying a slipping clutch, the members of the clutch are held in engagement by a cushion of rubber or like resilient material which is deformed to regulate the pressure between the clutch members. The driving element 7 of the clutch is axially slidable in a housing 2 and on the driving spindle 5, the rubber &c. cushion being packed between the back of the clutch member and the end of the housing, such cushion being cylindrical in form or, as shown, in the form of a series of rings 9. The driven clutch member 11 is rotatably mounted and secured against relative axial movement in a flanged screwed sleeve 13 engaging the housing 2. Adjustment of the sleeve varies the compression of the rings 9 and therefore the pressure between the clutch teeth 8. Similar cushioning means 28 is provided between the end of a centring stud 30 and a counterbore in the extension 12 of the driven clutch member to prevent damage to screw-threads on the withdrawal of a tap. The housing 2 may be calibrated to indicate the pressure on the clutch teeth. Sockets.-Tke tool adaptor 18 is keyed to the holder 22 and is secured by rotating an outer sleeve 23 to wedge steel balls against the adaptor.

3555. Robinson, M., and Dodd, J. Feb. 21. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Tramways, paving.-In order to provide a more permanent paving for tramway pavements and the like, cast iron or steel supports A, formed integrally with a base-plate B, are placed upon the usual concrete foundation C so that their curved corners E fit under the upper flanges of the rails G. Wooden blocks F, which are also shaped to fit under the rails, are placed between the supports A. The supports A are tapered inwards towards the centre D of their depth, and the interstices between them and the wooden blocks are filled in with pitch or other material.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to processes for the production of microalgae, cyanobacteria and/or metabolites thereof. Described herein is a process involving the use of a stimulus applied to a microalgal or cyanobacterial culture to enhance the production of one or more metabolites. Also described herein, is a process for the production of microalgae and/or cyanobacteria comprising an adaptation stage wherein an algal/cyanobacterial culture is grown on a process water feedstock and/or under light emitting diodes (LEDs) emitting light within the spectrum of light wavelengths between around 400 nm and 700 nm, and a production phase, wherein the microalgae or cyanobacteria are grown on the same process water feedstock and/or under the same light conditions used in the adaptation stage. The invention also relates to specific microalgal strains.

15,121. Dodd, J. July 9. Carding - engines. -Relates to means for securing card clothing to the cylinders, doffers, workers, and other parts of carding- engines. The usual plug-holes fare made to taper from both the outer and inner surfaces of the cylinder, so that, when the plug h is driven into the hole and expanded by means of the wedge j, it will assume a double conical form and be firmly held in position. By the use of this invention, the inner surface of the cylinder may be turned true and smooth without endangering the security of the plugs.
