Articles made from a moisture-curable, polymeric composition comprising in weight percent based on the weight of the composition: (A) 2 to less than 80 weight percent (wt%) of an ethylenic polymer with (1) a crystallinity at room temperature of 34% to 55%, or 65%> to 80%>, and (2) a melt index (I2) of 0.1 to 50 decigrams per minute (dg/min); (B) 3 to 30 wt%> of a halogenated flame retardant; (C) 3 to 30 wt%> an inorganic antimony flame retardant; and (D) 0 to 10 wt%> of at least one of an inorganic flame retardant other than the inorganic antimony flame retardant, e.g., zinc oxide exhibit enhanced ACBD properties in comparison to articles alike in all respects except made from a composition comprising an ethylenic polymer without the requisite crystallinity at room temperature.

The present disclosure provides a composition. The composition includes a silanol functionalized polyolefin; an anhydride-free brominated flame retardant; antimony trioxide; and the composition has an antimony (Sb) to bromine (Br) molar ratio (Sb:Br molar ratio) from 0.37 to 1.05. The present disclosure also provides a coated conductor. The coated conductor includes a conductor and a coating on the conductor, the coating including a composition. The composition includes a silanol functionalized polyolefin; an anhydride-free brominated flame retardant; antimony trioxide; and the composition has an antimony (Sb) to bromine (Br) molar ratio (Sb:Br molar ratio) from 0.37 to 1.05.

Articles made from a moisture-crosslinkable, polymeric composition comprising in weight percent based on the weight of the composition: (A) 10 to 99.99 wt% of a nonpolar ethylenic polymer grafted with silane functionality (Si-g-npPE), the npPE having the following properties before grafting: (1) a vinyl content of 0.2 to 0.7 per 1,000 carbon atoms, (2) a melt index of 1.5 to 7.0 dg/min, (3) a density of 0.913 to 0.965 g/cc, and (4) a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of equal to or less than 8; (B) 0.01 to 20 wt% of a silanol condensation catalyst; and (C) 0 to 70 wt% of a flame retardant additive; exhibit one or more of desirable (a) silane grafting efficiency; (b) hot creep performance as a cable jacket/insulation after moisture crosslinking; (c) retained dielectric strength after glancing impact as a moisture crosslinked cable construction; and (d) crush resistance as a moisture crosslinked cable construction.

Scorch of a silane-functionalized polyolefin is minimized during melt mixing with a flame retardant through the use of a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) having a (1) number average molecular weight (Mn) greater than or equal to (=) 4,000 grams per mole (g/mol), (2) viscosity of greater than or equal to (=) 90 centipoise (cP), and (3) hydroxyl group content of less than or equal to (=) 0.9 weight percent (wt%) based on the weight of the PDMS.
