Abstract: A polyethylene copolymer blend consisting essentially of (A) an ethylene/unsaturated carboxylic ester bipolymer and (B) an ethylene/unsaturated carboxylic ester/carbon monoxide terpolymer. The polyethylene copolymer blend is defined by constituents (A) and (B) and at least one omitted material that would have otherwise restricted a physical property of the blend. The (A) ethylene/unsaturated carboxylic ester bipolymer is defined by features comprising choice of unsaturated carboxylic ester, unsaturated carboxylic ester comonomeric content in weight percent (wt%), and bipolymer melt index (I 2 ; 190° C., 2.16 kg) in grams per 10 minutes (g/10 min.). The (B) ethylene/unsaturated carboxylic ester/carbon monoxide terpolymer is defined by features comprising choice of unsaturated carboxylic ester, unsaturated carboxylic ester comonomeric content in wt%, carbon monoxide comonomeric content in wt%, and terpolymer melt index (I 2 ; 190° C., 2.16 kg) in g/10 min. Also formulations, cured polymer products, strippable semiconductive insulation shield layers, coated conductors, methods of making and using same.

Abstract: A composition for use in jacketing or insulation materials is disclosed, the composition comprising from 42 to 54 percent by weight of a halogen-free flame retardant, from 26 to 46 percent by weight of an ethylene alkyl acrylate copolymer, such as ethylene ethyl acrylate, optionally from 0 to 15 percent by weight of an ethylene-based polymer, optionally from 0 to 12 percent by weight of a coupling agent, and optionally from 0 to 1 percent by weight of an antioxidant. A cable insulation layer, a cable protective outer jacket, a cable core sheath, and cable comprising the jacketing material composition are also disclosed. Components comprising the composition exhibit balanced and improved melt rheological, tensile, and flame-retardant properties.

Abstract: Compositions useful as coatings for wire and cable comprise, in weight percent (wt%) based on the weight of the composition: (A) 10 to 62 wt% of a silane-grafted ethylene polymer (Si-g-PE) having a silane content of 0.5 to 5 wt% based on the weight of the Si-g-PE, wherein the Si-g-PE is made from an ethylene polymer (base resin) having the following properties. (1) Density of 0.875 to 0.910 g/cc; (2) Melt index (MI, I2) of 8 to 50 g/10 min (190°C/2.16 kg); and (B) 38 to 90 wt% of a halogen-free flame retardant (HFFR); (C) 0 to 0.3 wt% of an antioxidant; and (D) 0 to 1 wt% of a silanol condensation catalyst.
