Abstract: The present invention relates to a compound engine comprising an internal combustion engine and a first turbine and which has a high thermal efficiency since it makes use of the heat from the exhaust gases to heat part of the air disposed in an auxiliary tank which shall be used for the generation of electricity or the transmission of mechanical energy through the output shaft of a turbine actuated by said air, where the air disposed in the auxiliary tank is separated in a bottom cycle which makes use of the heat from the exhaust gases generated from the mixture of the remainder of the intake air and the fuel during a top cycle.
