Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To neutralize laundry, sufficiently sterilize the laundry and impart flexibility to the finished laundry by bringing the laundry into contact with an alkaline detergent to treat the laundry, and further bringing the treated laundry into contact with a peracid composition containing hydrogen peroxide, an organic carboxylic acid and a resulting organic peroxide. SOLUTION: This laundering method comprises (A) bringing a dirt laundry into contact with an alkaline detergent to treat the laundry, and (B) further bringing the treated laundry into contact with a peroxide composition containing hydrogen peroxide, an organic carboxylic acid (e.g. acetic acid and butanoic acid) and a resulting organic peroxide (e.g. peracetic acid and perpropionic acid), and capable of neutralizing and disinfecting the laundry, preferably at
