Abstract:
Containers for separating microcarriers from a cell culture fluid that offer a greater efficiency of filtration of cell culture fluids containing microcarriers relative to systems described in the art. The container may include a first compartment that may include a sterile collapsible bag, an inlet port providing a fluid path into the first compartment and an outlet port providing a fluid path exiting the first compartment; and a second compartment fluidly connected with the inlet port of the first compartment and including a plurality of independent or discrete microcarrier receiving regions defined by boundary walls which are partially or fully porous and having a porosity sufficient to retain the microcarriers inside the second compartment, while allowing the cell culture fluid to pass through the second compartment into the outlet port of the first compartment, where the cell culture fluid can be collected.
Abstract:
A disposable container, such as a deformable bag, for a fluid, having one or more inlets and one or more outlets and an impeller assembly within the container to cause mixing, dispersing, homogenizing and/or circulation of one or more ingredients contained or added to the container. The impeller assembly has a protective hood surrounding at least a portion of the moveable blades or vanes of the impeller assembly and being above at least a portion of the blades or vanes. The hood surrounds the blades or vanes and arcs over the height of the blades or vanes. The hood is shaped in a dome shape or semi-spherical shape that is around and above the impeller blades and acts as a protector for the container surface against the impeller assembly both during shipping and storage as well as when in use, particularly at lower liquid levels.
Abstract:
A clamp device for a barb member having a barbed region for disposing within an end of a flexible tube having an outer surface. The clamp device includes a flexible member including a body having a plurality of finger members compressible between a first resting position and a second clamping position; at least one of the flexible finger members having a radially inwardly extending tooth; the body having a through bore and an outer surface comprising threads; the flexible member being slidable over the barbed region and the outer surface of the flexible tube; a compression member having a body having a through bore and an inner surface including threads; the compression member being slidable over the flexible member; wherein upon threadingly engaging the compression member with the flexible member, the compression member compresses the finger member against the barb member.
Abstract:
A disposable container, such as a deformable bag, for a fluid, having one or more inlets and one or more outlets and an impeller assembly within the container to cause mixing, dispersing, homogenizing and/or circulation of one or more ingredients contained or added to the container. The region within the container that can contain liquid is funnel shaped, which allows very low fluid level mixing, dispensing while mixing, and a reduction or elimination of vortex formation.
Abstract:
The present invention is a device for fluid movement and method of making the same. The device has a core element comprised of a preformed barbed fitting having two or more barbed extensions. Each extension has a central bore connected to the central bores of the other extensions so as to provide fluid communications between them. A tube having a central bore is fitted over the barb of each extension. A molded housing is formed over the fitting and tubes to form the device.
Abstract:
An apparatus for use with an isolator, including a crown for releasably joining with a beta port of the isolator, wherein the crown includes at least one anchoring support; a spring hook on at least one end of the at least one anchoring support; a needle block including at least one through hole for having a needle positioned therein, wherein the at least one needle is joined with tubing; a yoke; and a biasing element releasably joined with the yoke and the at least one anchoring support; wherein the needle block is releasably joined to the crown.

Abstract:
A method for determining a physical value of a liquid flowing in a pipe, without contact with said liquid, said method comprising: - providing a sensor (3) for said physical value; - providing a connector (2) to insert into said pipe and comprising: - an internal passage (13) extending between two apertures (11, 12), - a flexible membrane (6) for a pressure sensor, forming a wall of said internal passage (13);
- fastening said sensor (3) onto said connector (2); and - determining with said sensor (3) said physical value of said liquid flowing in a pipe; characterized in that said sensor is a temperature sensor (3) and that said step of fastening said sensor (3) onto said connector (2) is such that the sensitive part of said sensor (3) is turned towards said membrane (6).
