Abstract:
The invention relates to methods and nodes for supporting a session transfer, for a user equipment, from a circuit switched network to a packets witched network. According to one aspect a method for operating a control node of a core network is provided. The method comprises the steps: requesting from a radio access network of the circuit switched network information on whether a capability of the user equipment related to the session transfer are compatible with a network configuration related to the session transfer; receiving from the radio access network an indication whether the capability of the user equipment and the network configuration are compatible; determining whether to indicate that the session transfer is supported by using the received compatibility indication; and setting an indication whether the session transfer is supported according to the determination.
Abstract:
According to one aspect of the teachings herein, a token is logically bound to an external identifier and provided to a wireless device via triggering signaling sent to the wireless device through an access network. The wireless device is configured to send registration signaling through the access network to a service provider network, in response to the triggering signaling and to return the token in such signaling. With this advantageous approach, the service provider network recognizes the token returned from the wireless device and thereby learns the association between a service provider network identifier that is received in the registration signaling for identifying the wireless device with respect to a service provided by the service provider network, and an external identifier assigned by the access network for use by the service provider network in identifying the wireless device to the access network.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Techniques for automatically transferring an external identifier for a wireless device from a wireless communication network serving the wireless device to a service provider external to the wireless communication network are disclosed. In an example method, carried out in one or more nodes of the wireless communication network, a binding between the external identifier and an internal identifier for the wireless device is maintained. A data session for the wireless device and corresponding to the service provider is established, wherein said establishing includes an assignment of an IP address to the wireless device. A request for the external identifier is received from the service provider, said request including the IP address for the wireless device. The external identifier is then sent to the service provider, in response to the request.
Abstract:
In a method and a system for handling a request for a service or a media flow from a user of a cellular radio system, means are provided for deciding if an already existing PDP context or EPS Bearer is to be used for the requested service or media flow based on information received from the system.
Abstract:
Method and Apparatus in a telecommunication system According to an aspect, there is provided a method in a network node of a radio access network, RAN, in a telecommunication system, the method comprising receiving (101) an indication from a network node in a core network that mobile terminated data is pending for a user equipment, UE, receiving (103) a connection request from the UE and setting up a radio resource control, RRC, connection to the UE, releasing (107) the RRC connection to the UE, whereby the method further comprises setting (105) a release timer value to a value sufficient to establish a mobile terminated communication by the network to the UE and the step of releasing the RRC connection to the UE is performed when the release timer has expired. Another aspect provides a method in a network node of a RAN in a telecommunication system, the method comprising keeping (123) a user equipment, UE, that is configured for long discontinuous reception, DRX, in idle mode, in radio resource control, RRC, connected mode long enough to allow a network stored mobile terminated short message service, MT SMS, to be received by the UE.
Abstract:
A method for attaching a wireless communications device (101) to a wireless communications network, the wireless communications network providing data communication, the method comprising communicating, between the wireless communications device and the wireless communications network, an indication (524, 630) that a selected one of the wireless communications device and the wireless communications network supports attachment of the wireless communications device to the wireless communications network without establishing an association to a packet data network (107).
Abstract:
A wireless communication device can provide an indication that its registration in a circuit-switched domain of a network is intended only for a short message service that is included in or accompanies a registration request, such as a combined registration for both the CS domain and a packet-switched (PS) domain. The device can also change a conventional order of its domain registrations, e.g., by performing a PS- domain registration before a CS-domain registration, when it will send SMS messages over the PS domain. The device can indicate its intention to use or support for SMS over the PS domain and/or be informed about network support for SMS over the PS domain before the UE attempts a network registration.
