    Abstract: There is disclosed a manner of providing signaling resiliency in a broadcast communications network, such as an MBMS network, which sends control signals from a gateway node to multiple access nodes via an IP network. For each transmitted control signal message, at least one repetitive control signal message is transmitted, usually multiple times at predetermined intervals. The repetitive signal includes the same session control information as the original session control message, and may also include an indication that it is a repeat control message. It may also include a unique identifier to be read by the access nodes, enabling them discard the packet without further processing if the unique identifier indicates that it has received the same control information previously. In a preferred embodiment, several repeat session control messages are aggregated into a single group message and transmitted, and which may also be provided with a unique identifier to facilitate early discard if appropriate.
