    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens having an aspherical surface which has a near sight region larger than the near sight region of the conventional multifocal lens and wider in width and is small in aberrations, i.e., astigmatism. SOLUTION: Δ is used in order to express the difference in the average spherical value between a near sight control point and the geometrical center of the lens. The surface area which is the surface area delineated by a point shorter than 20 mm from the geometrical center of the lens and of which the cylindrical value exists between 0.42Δ and 0.84Δ is made larger than the surface area which is the surface area delineated by a point shorter than 20 mm from the geometrical center of the lens and of which the cylindrical value is smaller than 0.42Δ.

    Abstract: The invention relates to an ophthalmic lens for long-sighted and intermediate vision comprising a complex surface provided with an optical centre, a substantially umbilicated meridian line and an average size sphere progression on the top surface equal to or greater than 0.50 diopters. The complex surface is provided in the top part thereof with a long-sighted vision area which is formed by cylinder points equal to or less than 0.25 diopters and covers an angular sector focused on the optical centre and whose angle is equal to 160°. Said complex surface also comprises an average size substantially constant sphere on the meridian line in the long-sighted vision area and a progression length equal to or less than 12 mm. Said progression length is defined as a vertical distance between the optical centre and a median point for which the average sphere if greater than 85% of progression on the average sphere in the optical centre. The inventive lens is suitable for driving and prescribed to persons having additional prescription greater than a power progression, whereby a correction adaptable to the power prescription of a longsighted vision person is provided in the top part of the lens. The lower part of the lens ensures the correction needed for an intermediate vision person.

    Abstract: Une lentille ophtalmique est dédiée à la vision de loin et à la vision intermédiaire. Elle présente une surface complexe ayant un centre optique, une méridienne sensiblement ombilique et une progression de sphère moyenne sur la surface supérieure ou égale à 0,50 dioptries. La surface complexe a, dans sa partie supérieure, une zone de vision de loin formée de points de cylindre inférieur ou égal à 0,25 dioptrie et recouvrant un secteur angulaire centré sur le centre optique et d'un angle de 160°. La surface complexe présente encore une sphère moyenne sensiblement constante sur la méridienne dans la zone de vision de loin et une longueur de progression inférieure ou égale à 12 mm. La longueur de progression est définie comme la distance verticale entre le centre optique et le point de la méridienne pour lequel la sphère moyenne est supérieure de 85% de la progression à la sphère moyenne au centre optique.La lentille est adaptée à la conduite automobile. Elle est prescrite à des sujets présentant une prescription d'addition supérieure à la progression de puissance; elle assure donc dans la partie supérieure de la lentille une correction adaptée à la prescription de puissance du sujet en vision de loin. Dans la partie inférieure de la lentille, la correction fournie par la lentille est celle nécessaire au sujet en vision intermédiaire.
