    Abstract: A rocker arm assembly capable of switchably deactivating a roller assembly includes a valve end and a cam end having first and second roller assemblies, and a latching mechanism. The latching mechanism includes rocker body pins and roller body pins. The rocker body pins include first and second end pins and a connection pin, each pin provided within a rocker arm body along a latching axis. The roller body pins include first and second locking pins, each roller body pin provided within a respective roller assembly. In a first latching mode, the first roller assembly is deactivated and the second roller assembly is activated. In a second latching mode, the second roller assembly is deactivated and the first roller assembly is activated.

    Abstract: In one embodiment, a system for synchronization is provided. The system comprises a switchable first rocker arm, a switchable second rocker arm, a first switching mechanism arranged in the first rocker arm and configured to controllably switch the first rocker arm by moving between a first position and a second position, and a second switching mechanism arranged in the second rocker arm and configured to controllably switch the second rocker arm by moving between a third position and a fourth position. Switching of the first rocker arm and switching of the second rocker arm are implemented by a single actuation source and controlled to occur in sequence.

    Abstract: A bidirectional latch pin assembly can comprise a housing portion comprising a latch port. A latch pin in the latch port can comprise a stepped nose extending from a body portion. The stepped nose can comprise a first step and a second step. A spring can be biased against a guide mounted in the latch port and the spring can be configured to bias the latch pin to a first position extending the first step out of the latch port. A first actuation assembly can be configured to move the latch pin to a second position extending the first step and the second step out of the latch port. A second actuation assembly can be configured to move the latch pin to a third position pulling the first step and the second step into the latch port. A switchable rocker arm and a valvetrain assembly can be formed therewith.

    Abstract: An overhead cam engine system comprises a rotating overhead exhaust cam rail comprising a plurality of exhaust lobes. A first switching roller finger follower actuates a first exhaust valve, and is configured to switch between a first lift profile and a second lift profile. A second switching roller finger follower is coupled to actuate a second exhaust valve, and is configured to switch between a third lift profile and a fourth lift profile. The third and fourth lift profile are different than the first and second lift profile. An actuation assembly is connected to switch the first switching roller finger follower and the second switching roller finger follower to select between at least three exhaust lift modes to open and close the first exhaust valve and the second exhaust valve using combinations of the first, second, third and fourth lift profiles.

    Abstract: An actuation apparatus for actuating a component of a switchable valve train device of an internal combustion engine includes: a support body for mounting on a cylinder head cover of the internal combustion engine; an actuation lever mounted to the support body for pivotal movement of the actuation lever between a first position for actuation of the component and a second position for allowing de-actuation of the component; and a biasing means for urging the actuation lever from the second position towards the first position. In use, the biasing means becomes biased when an actuation source causes the actuation lever to pivot to the second position. When the actuation source attempts to actuate the component when the component is non-actuatable, the biasing means causes the actuation lever to pivot from the second position to the first position, thereby to actuate the component when the component becomes actuatable again.
