    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an electric field that is applied to a dielectric layer for producing an electrostatic motor with nonlinear polarization property. SOLUTION: A linear motor has a flat stator 1 of capacitor structure, consisting of a metal layer 4 and a dielectric layer 5 and an elastically deformable, a projecting leg made of conductor thin film that includes a movable slide element 2, in parallel with the stator 1 and is disposed in contact with the dielectric layer 5 of the stator 1, while being turned. In this case, the linear motor is made of a ferroelectric field that is a nonlinearly polarized dielectric layer 5 for an electric field that is applied by a power supply 9 which is a voltage pulse supply source, and preferably a ferroelectric film with a high dielectric constant.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an electrostatic linear motor, which improves resistance to shock and vibration, so as to guarantee higher efficiency and higher reliability, and disclose a control method for the electrostatic linear motor. SOLUTION: This electrostatic linear motor includes a flat stator of capacitive structure, consisting of a metallic layer 4 and a dielectric layer 5, and a slider 2 equipped with first and second groups 8a and 8b of feet, consisting of semiconductor films and moreover arranged, being turned in contact on the dielectric layer 5 of a stator 1. The voltage pulses applied to one foot of the two groups 8a and 8b are shifted in phase by, for example, roughly half cycles from the voltage pulses applied to the other of the two groups 8b and 8a.
