Abstract: In order to repair the tapping (2b) of a tapped opening (2) of large diameter, a threaded insert is introduced by screwing into the tapped opening. The threaded insert is introduced into the tapped opening (2) wound on a threaded section of the surface of a drum which is screwed inside a tapped centring ring engaged in the entrance section (2a) of the tapped opening (2). The threaded insert is placed firmly against the tapping (2b) and the threaded insert is fixed firmly in place by fitting a pin traversing the threaded insert and engaged in the wall of the tapped opening (2). The invention also relates to tools allowing the use of the method according to the invention. The method according to the invention applies in particular to the repair of tappings in openings (2) machined in the tank flange (1) of a pressurized water nuclear reactor and allowing the sealed fixing of the tank cover by means of studs. … …
