Abstract: The procedure consists of fastening a tool support (36) by its locking mechanism (39') to the surface of the heating tube sleeve (3) so that its mobile section (42, 42', 45, 45') with coupling pins (43, 43') extends axially along the sleeve. A tubular support (37) is fitted round part of the heating tube (4) extending axially as far as a welding collar (7) by means of couplings (44, 44') attached to the pins, and an orbital welding machine (11) is fitted round the tubular support so that its torch (12) can rotate about the support's axis and follow the welding zone of the collar.
