Abstract: Each bulb (20') arranged in line with others (e.g. 20'') ends in a protrusion (22') which is long enough to keep the plasma-forming material in the bulb at a distance of at least 1.27 cm from the end wall (25') of the bulbholder. The light is produced by a discharge engendered within the bulb by microwave radiation from a magnetron. The extra length (22') enhances effectiveness of the reflector (35'). USE/ADVANTAGE - In ultraviolet hardening of inks and coatings with photopolymerisable chemicals, e.g. on number of resistors. Min. intensity of radiation (A, B, C) impinging on substrate (40') is increased with simple sectioned elliptical reflector.
