    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the strength of the oil pressure tappet and to faciliate the shaping of the body of the oil pressure tappet by a method wherein a plurality of parts for forming the oil pressure tappet are manufactured separately and then connected by welding. CONSTITUTION:The body 15 of the oil pressure tappet sliding within a hole in the cylinder head 2a is shaped in such a manner that the upper part 15a and the lower part 15b of the body 15 are manufactured separately and then both of the parts are welded together as at 26. A cylinder 4 for forming a high pressure chamber 9 is slidably supported on an inner cover provided on the lower part 15b of the tappet body 15 and one end of an air intake and exhaust valve is pressed by the outer end surface 4a of the cylinder 4. Further, a plunger 6 is provided within the cylinder 4 with the upper end of the cylinder contacting with the upper part 15a of the tappet body 15 and a reservoir 8 is formed within the plunger 6a.
