Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide digital imaging executed through conversion from radiation into visible light incident on a light sensitive imaging array. SOLUTION: A light absorption layer 150 reduces the quantity of light incident on a light sensitive imaging region 130 from a scintillator 180, and avoids saturation of the light sensitive imaging array 120, and, on the other hand, enables use of higher-energy radiation for parts inspection. The absorption layer 150 also reduces the quantity of light incident on switching devices 140 and suppresses leakage between the switching devices 140 just reading. In the case where the scintillator 180, such as a cesium iodide scintillator which is preferentially absorbing blue light continuously or the like, is deteriorated with the lapse of time, preferably the absorption layer 150 mainly absorbs blue light from the scintillator 180, so that calibration of this radiation imaging device 100 is not changed with the lapse of time. The absorption layer 150 is preferably an absorption barrier layer having p-type doped amorphous silicon.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an artifact compensation system that provides an image with high image quality by compensating a capacitive coupling artifact, in a signal generated from a matrix address type X-ray image pickup panel. SOLUTION: Each amplifier 146 amplifier data of an output signal line 118 of each detection cell 116 in an X-ray image pickup panel 15, while all scanning lines 117 controlled by a scanning controller 145 are nonconductive, an amplification signal processor 120 in a processor 150 reads a plurality of inductive signals in the output signal of the amplifier 146, accumulates them to a memory 122, a mean value computing element 126 averages them and stores the result to a mean value memory 124. In the normal operation of the image pickup panel 15, the image signal from the amplifier 146 is given to a corrected image signal computing element 128 as a 2nd output of the amplifier signal processor 120, and the computing element 128 subtracts the mean value received from the mean value memory from the 2nd output to compensate the capacitive coupling artifact and provides an image signal, corresponding to each amplifier to a display device 132.

SOLUTION: A device includes a scintillator 150 with first and second surfaces 160 and 162, a photo sensor array 110 that is optically coupled to the second surface of the scintillator, and an optical crosstalk attenuation means 200 that is optically coupled to the first surface of the scintillator, is arranged for preventing a photon entering the first surface of the scintillator from being reflected along a crosstalk reflection path 185 and returning into the scintillator, and has at least a light-absorbing material. The device further preferably includes an optical screen layer that is optically coupled to the second surface of the scintillator and is constituted by an essentially transparent material with a critical refractive index that is selected so that an entering photon is selectively reflected toward the inside to reduce optical crosstalk.
