Abstract: PATENTS 60SI-1489 Heat curable elastomeric silicone rubber compositions are produced which, upon heat-curing, exhibit a tear strength of greater than 200, a compression set of less than 20%, good tensile strength, and good heat-age and oil resistance properties. A vinyl-on-chain siloxane gum is added to a blend comprising 1) a vinyl-stopped organopolysiloxane gum, 2) a silica filler, 3) an MQ or M-D vinyl-Q resin, or blends thereof, and 4) a crosslinking agent to produce a silicone elastomer which is heat curable in the presence of a peroxide catalyst.

Abstract: PATENTS 60SI-1524 Heat cured silicone rubber compositions which contain a potassium aluminosilicate filler exhibit improved resistance to hydrocarbon oils. The potassium aluminosilicate filler has an average surface area of between about 5.0 and about 6.50 m2/g, an average particle diameter of between about 1.0 and about 20.0 micrometers, and an average particle thickness of between about 0.5 and 1.0 micrometers. The filler improves retention of physical properties and resistance to swelling in hot hydrocarbon oils in a wide variety of siloxane compositions.

Preferably, R and R1 are methyl, R2 is methyl or 3,3,3-trifluoropropyl, and b is 0. The invention is further directed to a method for treating silica filler with the treating composition above and to silicone elastomeric compositions containing filler treated with the treating composition.

Abstract: METHOD FOR PRIMERLESS COATING OF PLASTICS A method for securing protective silicone resin coastings to plastics without the use of primers is disclosed. Shock curing a silicone resin coating composition on transparent plastic substrates, such as polycarbonate, at a temperature not substantially below 140.degree.C is found to give a tough, adherent coating without distorting the substrates or diminishing its optical clarity, and without the use of primers. The suitability, after incorporation into the silicone resin coating composition, of certain silylated ultraviolet light screening compounds for shock curing is also disclosed.
