The blend includes 1) a vinyl-stopped organopolysiloxane gum, 2) a silica filler, 3) an MQ or M-D vinyl-Q resin, or blends thereof, and 4) a cross-linking agent to produce a silicone elastomer which is heat curable in the presence of a peroxide catalyst and mixtures of groups 2A and 2B metal oxides including magnesium and zinc.

    Abstract: Docket No.: 60SI-1384 of the Invention A composition is provided for treating silica filler in-situ, comprising a silanol-terminated, vinyl-containing polydiorganosiloxane having the general formula: wherein R is a monovalent substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon radical; R1 is R or a halogenated alkyl radical; R2 is R or a halogenated alkyl radical; "a" is a number in the range of from about 1 to about 30; "b" is a number in the range of from 0 to about 50; and"c" is a number in the range of from 4 to about 30; the vinyl content of the polydiorganosiloxane being in the range of from about 1 to about 20% by weight and the silanol content being in the range of from about 0.1 to about 6% by weight. Preferably, R and R1 are methyl, R2 is methyl or 3,3,3-trifluoropropyl, and b is 0. The invention is further directed to a method for treating silica filler with the treating composition above and to silicone elastomeric compositions containing filler treated with the treating composition.

    Abstract: METHOD FOR PRIMERLESS COATING OF PLASTICS A method for securing protective silicone resin coastings to plastics without the use of primers is disclosed. Shock curing a silicone resin coating composition on transparent plastic substrates, such as polycarbonate, at a temperature not substantially below 140.degree.C is found to give a tough, adherent coating without distorting the substrates or diminishing its optical clarity, and without the use of primers. The suitability, after incorporation into the silicone resin coating composition, of certain silylated ultraviolet light screening compounds for shock curing is also disclosed.
