    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fluorosilicone polymer efficiently in a good yield while diminishing wastes by reacting a triorganosilanol with a fluorosilicone trimer in the presence of an alkali silanolate and neutralizing the alkali silanolate. SOLUTION: The triorganosilanol having a viscosity of 50-10,000,000 cP is reacted with the fluorosilicone trimer represented by formula I and having a viscosity of 50-1,000,000 cP at temperatures of 80-150 deg.C in the presence of an alkali silanolate containing 10-100 ppm of an alkali metal group to obtain a polymer solution containing a polymer of formula II and volatiles. Next, the polymer solution is stripped of volatiles at a temperature as high as 250 deg.C or below, and the alkali silanolate is neutralized to obtain a fluorosilicone polymer. In the formulae, R1 is a 1-8C monovalent hydrocarbon group; R2 is a 3-8C perfluoroalkylethylenyl; R3 is a 1-8C monovalent hydrocarbon group; and (x) is 3 or greater.

    Abstract: A process for making organosilyl end-stopped diorganopolysiloxane fluid is provided comprising the steps of reacting an organic end-stopping compound with a fluorosilicone trimer in the presence of a catalytic amount of linear phosphonitrillic acid, and inactivating the linear phosphonitrilic acid, thereby forming organosilyl end-stopped diorganopolysiloxane fluid. The fluoro-substituted cyclosiloxane is preferably 1,3,5-tris(3,3,3-trifluoropropyl)-1,3,5-trimethylcyclotrisiloxane. This is preferably reacted with hexamethyldisiloxane or trimethylchlorosilane with LPNC as a catalyst.

    Abstract: The invention comprises a method for producing fluorosilicone oil by reacting a fluorosilicone trimer with an end-stopping compound in the presence of an alkali silanolate. The polymer may be condensed to increase viscosity and decrease the silanol content of the polymer, and volatiles may be removed by stripping. The method provides a high yield of fluorosilicone oil of narrow viscosity ranges in an efficient reaction, and produces small amounts of waste. The preferred cyclotrisiloxane is 1,3,5-tris(3,3,3-trifluoropropyl) cyclotrisiloxane. The end-stopper may be a tri-organosilanol such as dimethylvinylsilanol or trimethylsilanol or a di-organodisilanol.
