    Abstract: There is provided an organopolysiloxane composition combining high strength with exceptionally good elongation, which composition comprises a first component, a mixture of two vinylcontaining polysiloxanes or blends of vinyl-containing polysiloxanes, one of which is a high viscosity polysiloxane or a blend of high viscosity polysiloxanes, the other is a low viscosity polysiloxane or a blend of low viscosity vinylcontaining polysiloxanes, a filler and an effective amount of a platinum catalyst. The second component comprises a hydrogen-containing silane or polysiloxane. When it is desired to cure the composition into an elastomer the first component is mixed with the second component, that is, the hydrogen containing silane or polysiloxane and the mixture is allowed to cure either at room temperature or at elevated temperatures. Part of the total high viscosity vinylcontaining polymer can be mixed with the second component.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liq. injection moldable silicone elastomer compsn. which exhibits a low compression set, adhesiveness without using a primer, and easiness in peeling by compounding a silicone elastomer, a cationic org. nitrogen compd. salt, bis(trimethoxysilylpropyl) fumarate, and a specific silanol-terminated polymer so that the resulting elastomer compsn. has specified physical properties. SOLUTION: A silanol-terminated polymer represented by the formula (wherein RA , RA , RA , and RA are each a 1-40C org. group; RA is a 2-40C olefinic org. group; y is 0-50; and x is 0-100) is used. This polymer is soluble in the objective curable elastomer compsn., exhibits a lower solubility in the elastomer compsn. after cured than the solubility in the elastomer compsn. before cured, and hence contains a silicone oozing out of the elastomer compsn. after cured. Examples of the cation of the cationic org. nitrogen compd. are H, a monovalent cation bonded to an org. group, and a cation of a mono- or polycyclic heterocyclic compd.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a curable silicone elastomer composition which can give a cured product reduced in compression set by adding a salt of a cationic organonitrogen compound to a silicone composition suited for the production of a rollable rubber or pumpable liquid injection-moldable composition. SOLUTION: Desirably this composition contains (1) an alkenylorganopolysiloxane and (2) a hydrogen-containing silicon compound selected from the group consisting of hydrogen-containing silanes and hydrogen- containing organopolysiloxanes. The salt of the cationic organonitrogen compound is desirably, for example, a cation of a cycloaliphatic nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring having the formula: (CH2-e Qe )f NRN g H2-g [wherein e is 0, 1, or 2; Q is a 1-40 monovalent organic group; f is an integer of 4 or greater; RN is a 1-40C monovalent organic group; and g is 0, 1, or 2].

SOLUTION: This composition contains the following four components: (1) a silicone elastomer, (2) a salt of a cationic organonitrogen compound, (3) bis(trimethoxysilylpropyl) fumarate, and (4) a silanol-terminated polymer represented by the formula (wherein RA , RA , RA , and RA are each independently a 1-40C monovalent organic group; RA is a 2-40C monovalent olefinic organic group; y' is 0 to about 50; x' is 0 or 1 to about 100; and the alkenyl content ranges from 0 in the case of y'=0 to about 25 wt.%, in the case of y'>0). When this composition is bonded to a substrate comprising a thermosetting polymer or a thermoplastic polymer, components (3) and (4) function as an adhesion promoter system.
