Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotor assembly 40 for a gas turbine engine 10, including bearing assemblies 46 for reducing a dynamic load to a support frame 44 and a static bend to the rotor assembly, while a rotor is imbalanced. SOLUTION: The rotor assembly includes a rotor shaft 42, and the rotor shaft 42 is connected to a fan 12 to be vertically supported on a support frame by bearing assemblies. The second bearing assembly includes a paired races 50, a bearing 48, and a mounting race 102. The mounting race includes a spherical surface, and it is fixed to the bearing assembly by a retainer 104 which breaks plastically by a predetermined moment load.

The rotor assembly includes a rotor shaft (42) coupled to a fan (12) and supported longitudinally with a plurality of bearing assemblies on a support frame. A number two bearing assembly includes a paired race (50), a bearing (48), and a mounting race (102). The mounting race includes a spherical face and is secured to the bearing assembly with a retainer (104) that plastically fails at a pre-determined moment load.
