Abstract: Light extraction from wet-coated OLED devices may be improved by optimizing the charge injection or transport layers to direct more light into a supporting substrate, thus maximizing the final light extraction efficiency. Accordingly, in one aspect, the present invention relates to an optoelectronic device (20) that has at least one charge carrier injecting or transporting layer (3) that includes inorganic nanoparticles (11, 12) having a bimodal particle size distribution and dispersed in an organic matrix. In another aspect, the present invention relates to an optoelectronic device (10) that includes an electron transporting layer (6) comprising inorganic nanoparticles (11) dispersed in an organic matrix. In yet another aspect, the present invention relates to an optoelectronic device (30, 40) wherein the surface of the electron transporting layer (6) that is contiguous to the cathode is uneven (14). In yet another aspect, the present invention relates to an optoelectronic device comprising • a substrate; • an anode; • a cathode; • an electroluminescent layer; and • electron transporting layer comprising a fluoro compound of formula I (Ar2)n -Ar1-(Ar2)n I wherein Ar 1 is C 5-C 40 aryl, C 5-C 40 substituted aryl, C 5-C 40 heteroaryl, or C 5-C 40 substituted heteroaryl; • Ar 2 is, independently at each occurrence, fluoro- or fluoroalkyl- substituted C 5-40 heteroaryl; and • n is 1, 2, or 3.

Abstract: Large-Area lighting systems and methods of making the same. More specifically, groups of organic light emitting modules, such as organic light emitting diode modules, coupled in series with respect to on another are provided. The modules cathode of each organic light emitting module is electrically coupled to the anode of an adjacent light emitting module in an interconnect region. A portion of the cathode of each module extends adjacent to an active area of an adjacent module at an interconnect region. Methods of fabricating series groups of organic light emitting modules employing continuous material layers is also provided.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device structure and a method for an outdoor marker utilizing an organic light emission diode(OLED) technique. SOLUTION: OLEDs are patterned into a marker, and it is combined with an outer layer comprising a high-scattering, nonabsorbing film provided on an OLED luminescent region and a high-absorbing film provided on a nonluminescent region. The marker is visible by the organic electroluminescent(EL) light on the condition that the ambient light level is low, and it is visible by the outside film on the condition that the ambient light level is high.

Abstract: A shaped light extraction luminaire (28) to gather light from an organic light emitting diode (OLED). Specifically, an inverted and truncated pyramid structure having a recessed area configured to receive an OLED is provided. The luminaire (28) is structured to increase the light emission of the OLED by capturing light emissions that would typically be lost by absorption within the OLED (10). The luminaire (28) includes angled sides (34) having a reflective material (36) disposed thereon. The luminaire (28) increases the light output of the OLED (10) such that it may be implemented in area lighting applications. Further, an array comprising a plurality of recessed areas and a plurality of angled sides (34) for each of the recessed areas may be implemented.

And its manufacturing method comprises each organic luminous element to be equipped with a first and second element electric contact point each having a first and second element contact surface sharing a common plane and a process in which at least one or more of organic luminous element are prepared, wherein the first and second element electric contact point are electrically connected with the first and second electrode of the organic luminous element, and a process in which the organic luminous element is installed in the installation substrate, wherein the first and second element contact surface are electrically contacted with the corresponding first and second installation electric contact point.
