Abstract: An apparatus enables digital data to be sent between first (12b) and second (12a) components that rotationally move with respect to each other about an axis (19). A transmitter (40) mounted on the first component (12b) produces an output signal that has a pulse whenever the digital data makes a state transmission line (51) which is attached to the first component (12b) and extends about the axis (19). A receive transmission line (57) is attached to the other component (12a) and curves about the axis (19) adjacent to the transmit element (51). A circuit (60) produces a state transition in a digital output signal whenever an electrical signal from the receive transmission line (57) transcends a reference level.
