PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroactive material and/or beneficial agent with a solubilizing moiety that remedies detriments and/or complications associated with the incorporation of the electroactive material and the beneficial agent into a suitable electrochromic medium at an operatively acceptable concentration. SOLUTION: The electrochromic medium for use in an electrochromic device includes a substrate having a front and rear surface, a second substrate having a front and rear surface, and a chamber, substrates that may be coated with electrically conductive materials having a bonding sealing member, at least one solvent as cathodic electroactive material, an anodic electroactive material, and an optional beneficial agent, where at least one of the cathodic electroactive material, anodic electroactive material and/or beneficial agent is associated with a solubilizing moiety which serves to increase solubility of the associated material or beneficial agent relative to the same without the solubilizing moiety. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electric active substance and/or beneficial medicine having a soluble section for correcting loss and/or complication relating to the integration of electric active substance and beneficial medicine into proper electrochromic medium with operationally desired concentration.SOLUTION: Disclosed is an electrochromic medium to be used for an electrochromic device including a substrate having a front face and a rear face, a second substrate having a front face and a rear face, a substrate having a chamber and a bonding/sealing member to which conductive substance may be applied, at least one type of solvent as cathode electric active substance, anode electric active substance, and arbitrary beneficial medicine. At least one of the cathode electric active substance, anode electric active substance and/or beneficial medicine is bonded to a soluble section which functions to increase the solubility of bonding substance or medicine in comparison with the same substance with no soluble section.
