    Abstract: The vehicle door has a supporting ring-shaped frame (12-19) of highly strong steel nearest to outer panels. The frame is pressed out of flat plate, so that a side crash protection beam (20) is formed in the same pressing operation. The frame and the side crash protection beam have hat-shaped cross-sections. Reinforcement plates couple together the frame outer and inner flanges and give the frame a closed cross-section, with the side crash protection beam connections to the ring-shaped frame itself. The ring-shaped frame outer side flange supports the door outer panel and the other parts of the door and the door other parts are screwed firmly to the inside of the frame.

    Abstract: The bumper beam 11 of a vehicle has a hat profile and it is mounted in two tapered crash boxes 12, 13, which extend into the hat profile with their narrow ends. These narrow ends are fixed to the bottom of the hat profile so that the crash boxes will flatten out the hat profile when they are axially compressed. This arrangement is particularly advantageous for reducing the damages in low-velocity offset crashes that have an effect on only one of the crash boxes since it reduces the risk of damages on other parts than the crash box and the bumper beam.

    Abstract: A supporting frame 10 of a door with an integrated side impact guard beam 22 is made of high strength steel. The outer panel 28 of the door will be close to the side impact guard beam. All the interior units of the door, such as lock and window structure 34-37 with window frame 37 , are mounted on a beam structure 30. The beam structure is then mounted on the frame 10 so that the window structure will be between the frame 10 and the beam structure 30.
