Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of a polyester as an elastomer component for gum bases. The application also relates to a method of making gum bases which comprise such polyesters. The polyester comprises as polyester-forming components in condensed form
a) at least one aliphatic dicarboxylic acid,
b) at least one aliphatic diol and
c) at least one compound having at least three groups capable of ester formation in an amount of from 0.1 to 10.0 % by weight, based on the total weight of the polyester,

wherein the polyester comprises the components a) and b) in an amount of at least 90, in particular at least 95 % by weight, based on the total weight of the polyester.
