    Abstract: A hollow cathode lamp (1), wherein a tubular member (8) is vertically installed on a stem (4) in a valve (2) to achieve an increase in productivity and a structure hard to produce the diffraction of discharge to an anode (7) from those other than a hollow cathode (10), whereby, the enclosure of the portion where the diffraction of discharge to the anode (7) is hard to occur can be achieved with such a simple structure that the tubular member (8) is installed vertically on the valve (2), the discharge in the tube axis (L) direction is assured in association with the adoption of the tubular member (8) extending in the tube axis (L) direction because the hollow electrode (10) is disposed concentrically to the tubular member (8), and the tubular member (8) having an effect for suppressing abnormal discharge can largely contribute to the workability in assembly and assist in the mass production of the lamp (1).

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hollow cathode lamp which is enabled to securely generate discharge between a hollow cathode and an anode, with an assembly workability in mind. SOLUTION: The hollow cathode lamp 1 has a cylindrical member 8 erected on a stem 4 inside the bulb for improvement of productivity as well as to a achieve a configuration in which a wraparound of discharge hardly occurs from anything but a hollow cathode 10 against an anode 7. With this configuration, it is achieved to enclose a part where a wraparound of discharge to the anode 7 is easily generated with as simple a structure as erecting the cylindrical member 8 in the bulb. Further, as a result of concentric alignment of the hollow electrode 10 with the cylindrical member 8, discharge in the direction of the tube axis L is secured coupled with an adoption of the above cylindrical member 8 extending to the tube axis direction. Like this, the cylindrical member 8 bringing good effects in restraining abnormal discharge contributes greatly to improvement of assembling workability, and is of some help for a mass production of the lamp 1.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent any staining of a light-taking-out window by catching matter evaporated from the cathode by placing a diffusion prevention cylinder between the cathode of a hollow cathode lamp and the light-taking-out window in such a manner as to surround the optical path of light discharged from the cathode. CONSTITUTION:In a hollow cathode lamp used as an optical source for atomic absorption spectrochemical analysis, atomic fluorescence spectrochemical analysis and similar analysis, the lead pin 17 of a base 16 is connected to a columnar cathode 13 which has a blind hole in its center and is surrounded by a cathode- encircling body made of an insulating material. On the cathode 13, a cylindrical anode 12 supported by a lead wire 12a connected to a lead pin 18 is installed in such a manner as to surround the optical path of light discharged from the cathode 13. Owing to the above constitution, the cylindrical anode 12 can be used also as a cylinder for preventing diffusion of matter evaporated from the cathode 3 by catching the evaporated matter, thereby preventing any contamination of a light-discharging window 10 by the evaporated matter.
