Abstract:
CRYSTAL-CLEAR THERMOPLASTIC MOULDING COMPOSITIONS CONSISTING OF A MIXTURE OF LINEAR SATURATED POLYESTERS, THE DIOL COMPONENT OF WHICH CONSISTS OF ETHYLENE GLYCOL AND A DIOL OF THE FORMULA HO-CH2-CR1R2-CH2-OH, WHEREIN R1 REPRESENTS A HYDROGEN ATOM OR A LINEAR OR BRANCHED ALIPHATIC RADICAL HAVING UP TO 4 CARBON ATOMS, AND R2 REPRESENTS A LINEAR OR BRANCHED ALIPHATIC RADICAL HAVING UP TO 4 CARBON ATOMS, AND OF A STYRENE/ACRYLONITRILE COPOLYMER. FROM THESE CRYSTAL-CLEAR THERMOPLASTIC MOULDING COMPOSITIONS, SHAPED ARTICLES HAVING A HIGH TRANSPARENCY AND A HIGH GLOSS CAN BE MANUFACTURED, IN PARTICULAR ACCORDING TO THE INJECTION-MOULDING PROCESS. OWING TO THEIR GOOD MOULD RELEASE PROPERTIES, THEIR EXCELLENT DIMENSIONAL STABILITY, AS WELL AS THEIR HIGH IMPACT STRENGTH, TOGETHER WITH FAVOURABLE HARDNESS VALUES, THE MOULDING COMPOSITIONS ARE PARTICULARLY SUITABLE FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF HIGH-QUALITY SHAPED ARTICLES.
Abstract:
A composition comprises a mixture of two or more polymers which have not been externally plasticized, the polymers being compatible with each other and the second order transition temperatures of two of the polymers differing by 10 DEG to 200 DEG C. wherein at least one of the polymers is a copolymer having a chemically heterogeneous composition obtained by copolymerizing two or more monomers characterized by different polymerization speeds. Compositions exemplified are (I) polyvinyl chloride + vinyl chloride octyl acrylate copolymer and (II) polyvinyl acetate + vinyl acetate/dibutyl maleate copolymer + vinyl acetate/butyl acrylate copolymer filled with vermiculite. Specification 871,254 is referred to.ALSO:One or more resilient members are coated with a composition comprising two or more polymers that have not been externally plasticized, the polymeric components being compatible with one another and the second order transition temperatures of two of the components differing by between 10 and 200 DEG C. wherein at least one of the polymeric components is a copolymer having a chemically heterogeneous composition obtained by copolymerizing two or more monomers characterized by different polymerization speeds. In the examples steel plate is covered with (I) and (II) a composition comprising polyvinyl chloride and a vinyl chloride/octyl acrylate copolymer, (III) polyvinyl acetate, vinyl acetate/dibutyl maleate copolymer and vinyl acetate/butyl acrylate copolymer. Fillers and other resins may be added. Specification 871,254 is referred to.
