    Abstract: New aqueous concentrates containing a fluorinated surfactant and a further foam producing component are disclosed. They contain of from 0.5 to 2.5% by weight a fluorinated phosphorous acid ester having the formula (I) In this formula means Rf a perfluoroalkyl radical with from 3 to 16 carbon atoms, m zero or 1, p an integer of from 1 to 4, R1 a hydrogen atom, a C1-4 alkyl radical, a cylcohexyl radical or a 2-hydroxyalkyl radical with from 2 to 6 carbon atoms, R2 a C1-4 alkyl radical, a cyclohexyl radical or a 2-hydroxyalkyl radical with 2 to 6 carbon atoms, or a radical of the formula Rf-(CF=CH)m-(CH2)p, Q an alkylene radical with 2 to 4 carbon atoms, which may be substituted by phenyl groups. The aqueous concentrate when diluted with about 16 parts by volume of water gives a solution which can be foamed. The foam it capable of extinguishing liquid hydrocarbon fires.

    Abstract: Aqueous solutions containing an aliphatic amine-N-oxide and a member of a special group of fluorinated surfactants (I) can be used with success as foaming agents for extinguishing liquid hydrocabon fires. (I) has the formula in which RF is a perfluoroalkyl group having from 3 to 16 carbon atoms, R4 is a hydrogen atom, a C1-4 alkyl, cyclohexyl or 2-hydroxyalkyl having from 2 to 6 carbon atoms, R5 is a C1-4 alkyl radical, a cyclohexyl radical or 2-hydroxyalkyl having from 2 to 6 carbon atoms and R6 is a water-solubilizing radical.
