Abstract: The prepn. of an azo dye of formula (I) comprises: (a) coupling the diazonium salt of a naphthylamine of the formula (III) with a 6-sulpho-3-amino-8-naphthol of formula (IV) to a cpd. of the formula (V); (b) if Ac is acyl, hydrolysis with an alkali hydroxide at pH 11-14 and 60-95 deg C, addn. of a mineral acid to ppte. the free acid of formula (VI) at pH 1-3 and 20-90 deg C and isolating (VI); (c) if Z is a substd. triazinyl gp., dissolving the acid in water with alkali at pH 6-7.5 and reacting with a gp. of formula (VII) in neutral soln. at -5 to +15 deg C; and (d) if Y is F or Cl, opt. replacing by reaction with an amine of the formula HNR R . A-N=N-B-N(R)-Z (I) A-NH2 H-B-N(R)-Ac (II; Ac = H, 2-5 C alkanoyl or benzoyl) A-N=N-B-N(R)-Ac (III) (III; M, Ac = H) M = H or an alkali metal; m = 1, 2 or 3; R = H or 1-4 C alkyl; Z = H or gp. of formula (II); X = Cl or F; Y = Cl, F or -NR R ; R , R = H or 1-4 C alkyl, opt. with the usual substits. for dyes; or R = 5-8 C cycloalkyl or phenyl, opt. with 1-3 sulpho, carboxy, 1-4 C alkyl, 1-4 C alkoxy or Cl substits. or a vinylsulphonyl or beta -sulphato-ethylsulphonyl, beta -chloroethylsulphonyl or beta -thiosulphato-ethylsulphonyl substits. or one sulphonyl substit. and 1 or 2 of the other substits.; or -NR R = satd. heterocycle with one 4-8 C alkylene or a heterocycle with another hetero gp. and two 1-4 C alkylene gps.. Abstract: Reactive dyes are described, such as, for example, azo dyes and their heavy metal complex derivatives, anthraquinone, phthalocyanine and formazan dyes, which contain a reactive group of the vinylsulphone series and additionally a group of the general formula in which R represents hydrogen or denotes lower alkyl which can be substituted by substituents customary in dyes, and Q and Q both independently of one another each denote lower alkyl which is substituted by 1 or 2 lower alkanoyl groups or 1 or 2 lower alkoxy-carbonyl groups or by one such alkoxycarbonyl group and alkanoyl group, or an amino group which is substituted by optionally substituted aryl and/or alkyl radicals, or optionally substituted alkoxy, aryloxy, alkylthio or arylthio radicals or a cyanamido radical. The novel dyes dye material containing hydroxyl and/or carboxamide groups, such as cellulose fibre materials, wool and polyamides, in brilliant shades and are additionally suitable for discharge and reserve printing.

Abstract: Water-soluble dyes are described, such as azo dyes, metal complex dyes, anthraquinone, phthalocyanine and formazan dyes, which contain a fiber-reactive group of the vinyl sulfone series which, if desired, is bound via a bridging member, and furthermore contain a 4-cyanamido-1,3,5-triazin-6-ylamino radical which is substituted in the 2 position by a group of the formula (2) (2) in which Rz is hydrogen or a lower alkyl group which is unsubstituted or substituted by alkyl, hydroxy, cyano, lower alkoxy, carboxyl, sulfamoyl, sulfo or sulfato or by a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl radical or is a cyclohexyl radical or a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl radical, W is an aryl, alkylenearyl, arylenealkyl, alkylenearylenealkyl or arylenealkylenearyl radical substituted by 1 to 4 water-solubilizing substituents, it being possible for these aryl, arylene, alkyl and alkylene radicals to be additionally substituted and/or interrupted by hetero groups, A is the number zero or 1, and B is the number 1 or 2, the sum of (A+B) being the number 2. The dyes are fiber-reactive and are suitable for the dyeing of hydroxy- and/or carboxamido-containing material, in particular fiber material, such as cotton, wool, silk and synthetic polyamide, by the procedures known for fiber-reactive dyes.

Molar ratio (I):(II) is pref. 1: 0.3-1.4, esp. 1:0.5-1. M = H or alkali metal; R = sulpho or carboxy; R = H, Me, Et, OMe, OEt, sulpho or carboxy; R = H, Me, Et, OMe or OEt; Y = vinyl, 2-chloroethyl, 2-thiosulphatoethyl, 2-phosphatoethyl, or 2-sulphatoethyl.
