    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject polyurethane capable of exhibiting extremely excellent brightening effect, by dissolving a pyrazoline-based brightener in a polyol component or an isocyanate component. SOLUTION: This polyurethane is obtained by dissolving (C) a pyrazoline- based brightener in (A) a polyol component or (B) an isocyanate component and subjecting the components A and B to polyaddition. A compound of the formula [Ar1 and Ar2 are each independently a (substituted) aryl; R1 and R1 ' are each H, a 1-4C alkyl or phenyl] may be cited as the component C. Consequently, the most suitable brightening effect can be exhibited.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fluorescent brightener mixture which can synergistically improve the whitening effect of a synthetic resin by combining two brighteners selected from specified compounds. SOLUTION: This mixture is a fluorescent brighter comprising below described and B, represented by formulas I and II (wherein R and R are each hydrogen, a 1-10 C alkyl or the like; and X is a 1,4-naphthylene group, a 2,5- thiophene group or a 2,5-furan group) and at least one brighter represented by formula III (R in position 5 is hydrogen, a halogen, a 1-4 C alkyl or a phenyl, R is hydrogen or R and R in positions 5 and 6 or positions 5 and 7 are each methyl; n is 0 or 1; and B is cyano, carbo-1-4 C-alkoxyl or the like). This mixture is desirably prepared by mixing components A and B with each other in an A/B weight ratio of (20-80%)/(80-20%). This mixture is used in an amount of 1-5,000ppm based on the resin.

The dispersing agents according to the invention are suitable for preparing dispersions of dyes, pigments, plant protection agents and pesticides and for preparing dyeing baths, padding baths and pastes for paper printing and textile printing.

    Abstract: Prodn.of patterned effects in dyeing or printing textile material in the absence of alkali or reducing agent is carried out as follows. Either (a) the material is pretreated with a cationising agent (I) and dried or (b) the warp yarn is treated with (I) and size dried, then woven with a weft yarn. Then an oxidant is applied in a pattern and, after drying, the material is dyed or printed with reactive, direct, acid, water-soluble sulphur or pigment dyestuffs in the absence of alkali or reducing agent. Preferred Composition (I) is a (quat) reaction prod. of polyethyleneimines of formula H-(CH2-CH2-NH)a . (CH2-CH2-NX)b-H (IA) with bifunctional alkylating agent, pref.of formula A-Z-A (II); a (quat.) reaction prod. of an epichlorohydrin and NH3 or an amine of formula R-NHA' (III); or a polymer consisting (partly) of monomer units of formula H2C=CR3-CH2-+N(R1)(R2)-CH2-CR4=CH2 (IV). In the formulae X is -(CH2-CH2-NH)c-H; a and b are 0-600; (a+b) is 60-600; c is 0-50; A is the radical of an alkylating agent; Z is a direct bond or a divalent bridging gp.; A' is H or 1-5C (hydroxy)alkyl; R is 1-5C (hydroxy)alkyl, -(alkylene-NA')n-alkylene-NHA' or -(alkylene-X-alkylene-NA')n-alkylene-X-alkylene-NHA'; n is 0-5; X is 0 or S; or RA is -alkylene-NH-alkylene; alkylene is 1-6, pref. 2-3C alkylene; R1 and R2 are H, 1-22C alkyl, opt. with -CO-NH- or -NH-CO- in the chain, or 1-4C hydroxyalkyl, pref. 1-10, esp. 1-4C alkyl; R3 and R4 are H or Me; Y is a monovalent anion or one equiv. of a polyvalent anion.
