Abstract: The multiple-tube reactor for testing solid catalysts used in gas conversion processes esp. the prodn. of methanol vinyl chloride or ethylene oxide by direct oxidn., comprises a conventional reactor with tube support plate. the tube with the catalyst under investigation is connected via a separate sample tube to a valve attached to an outlet pipe on the inspection cover below the outlet port. The sampling tube is half the dia. of the reactor tube to which it is attached via a screw flange. Two reactor tubes are emptied and then filled with the catalyst to be tested. They are fitted with the sampling tubes as above. The samples taken from these and from the reactor are checked in a gas chromatograph. Several samples are taken under various operating conditions over a period of time.
