    Abstract: In the wet treatment of fibre cables, for example dyeing in the gelled state, it is very difficult, especially with a total titre of more than 1,000,000 dtex, to obtain a uniform penetration and action of the liquor over the entire cross-section of the fibre cable. In addition to the propagation of suitable dyestuffs and the colouring knowhow, therefore, the mastery of the mechanical technology of gel dyeing must be considered a precondition for a marketable quality of the dyed articles produced by this process. According to the invention, these problems are solved in that the spinning material running continuously through a wet-treatment zone is forced by the action of mechanical means to allow a loosening of its material structure, in order thereby to bring about transversely to the direction of advance of the article an intensive penetration of the fibre material by the treatment liquor. The change in state of the packing density which is decisive for such penetration is obtained by means of the fulling effect which, with a modification of the pressing force or bearing pressure in particular regions during the passage of the cable strand, is brought about by (a) a system of a plurality of pairs of pinching rollers rotated relative to one another in relation to their axial direction or (b) a system of a plurality of centrally and/or eccentrically rotating rollers of differing spatial arrangement.

    Abstract: A dry-spun fibre material based on an acid-modified homopolymer or copolymer of acrylonitrile is advantageously dyeable with colour-fast results, following retroconversion into the gellike state by swelling with water, using soluble dyes which have in their molecule a plurality of groups, specifically more than one quaternary grouping and/or an uncharged strongly basic grouping, which act basic toward to the acid groups of the fibre substance. The chromophore of this colorant can come from the category of the monoazo or disazo dyes, the methine, azamethine or diazamethine dyes or the naphthalactam dyes. The dyeing of the regelled fibre is advantageously carried out continuously or batchwise from an aqueous dyebath, after the residual way-aqueous spinning solvent has been largely washed out; the drawing of the fibres can take place before, during or immediately after the dyeing process. Owing to their special nature, the fast-dyeing dyes of the aforementioned type give optimum rates of fixation in the dyeing of PAC gel fibre, and do not cause any marked staining of machine parts and working baths, for example drawing or aftertreatment baths, due to leached dye in the subsequent production stages. Investigations of the fibre penetration, the rate of fixation and the resulting fastness properties, such as the wet fastness, did not reveal any disadvantages compared with conventional dyes.

According to the invention, these problems are solved in that the treatment liquor is forced to saturate intensively several times alternately and transversely to the direction of advance of the article the fibre material which runs continuously through a wet- treatment zone. Such penetration of the spinning material takes place by means of the liquid pressure, the direction of the liquor flow being controlled (a) by means of the liquor acting from bypass lines on the cable strand guided in a channel system or (b) by means of the liquor acting alternately on different sides out of spray nozzles on the cable strand guided past or (c) by means of the liquor sucked into the drum interior during the transport of the cable strand via a series of screening drums connected in succession.

    Abstract: New dyestuff compositions of triphenylmethane dyestuffs containing no sulfo group, have been found which contain 5 to 60% of said triphenylmethane dyestuff and 40 to 95% of an oxidatively drying varnish on the basis of unsaturated compounds, of a physically drying varnish on the basis of dissolved hard resins, of a varnish which is drying by the cross-linking of low-moleuclar-weight unsaturated compounds to yield high-molecular-weight films under the action of high-energy radiation, or of a varnish prepared using conventional further additives, or of their mixtures, and optionally additional conventional dyestuff pigments, which compositions are well suited for the brightening and shading of black printing inks and pastes containing soot and do not show disturbing viscosity and thixotropy effects as often usual similar pigment compositions do.
