Abstract: (I) is new. Also new are fungicidal agents (esp. seed dressings for winter and spring barley) contg. (I). Esp. pref are seed dressings for winter and spring barley contg. (I) in admixture with (a) 5,6-dihydro-2-methyl-1,4-oxathiin-3-carboxanilide (carboxin) (II), (b) 2,5-dimethyl-3-furancarboxanilide (III), (c) N-cyclohexyl-2,5-di-methyl-3-furancarboxamide (IV), (d) 3'-ethoxy-2-methyl-5,6-dihydro-4H-pyran-3-carboxanilide (V), (e) methyl-2-benzimidazole-carbamate 12-18C alkanesulphonic acid salt (VI) (f) 1-methoxycarbonyl-3-norbornylmethyl-1,2,3, 4-tetrahydro-s-triazino(1,2-A)benzimidazole (VII), (g) methyl-2-benzimidazolecarbamate (VIII). (I) is a fungicide with a broad spectrum of activity against phytopathogenic fungi. Its combination with (II)-(VIII) extends the spectrum to cover Ustilago nuda, an important pathogen of barley.

Abstract: Fungicidal dispersions of 5,6-dihydro-2-methyl-3-carboxanilido-1,4-oxathiine (I) carboxin and its 4,4-dioxide (II) oxycarboxin contains a paraffinic mineral oil, a liq. triglyceride and/or a liq. ester of a 4-12C monoalcohol as dispersion medium. The presence of the dispersion medium increases the activity of (I) and (II) against rust diseases (e.g. in wheat and coffee) and extends their spectrum to include disease caused by Colletotrichum spp. The dispersions have good storage stability.
