Thus, the mixt. of 2-(4'-hydroxyphenoxy)-propionic ethyl ester 42g; CaCO3 33.1 g and acetonitrile 300 ml was refluxed for 90 min. 2-Chloro benzimidazole 33.9 g was added, refluxed for 30 hr, filtered and acetonitrile was removed to give 60.7 g I.
