    Abstract: Title compds. (I; R = halogen, C1-4 alkyl, alkoxy; Y = O, S; n = 1-2; R1= cyclohexyl, halophenyl, mono- or di-C1-4 alkylcyclohexyl, C1-4 alkyl, CF3, NO2 , etc.), useful as herbicides, were prepd. by the reaction of XVI and XVII (w = halogen, sulfonic ester radical). Thus, 60 ml anhyd. toluene solution contg. 20.73 g 2-≮4'-(2",4"-dichlorophenoxy)phenoxy≉-propionic chloride was dropped in 60 ml anhyd. toluene contg. 4.83 g ethylenechlorophydrin (2-chloroethanol) and 6.06 g triethylamine, and stirred at 50≦̸C for 1 hr to give 21.25 g 2-≮4'-(2",4"-dichlorophenoxy)-phenoxy≉-propionic acid 2-chloroeth-1-yl ester.
