Abstract: The dyeing of wool with reactive dyes in a strongly acid medium (containing sulfuric acid) requires no longer acceptable, long heating-up times (50-60 minutes) in order to obtain level dyeings. It has now been found, according to the invention, that by rapidly heating up the dyebath which contains the dyes of the vinylsulfonyl type and also all the ingredients, except the acid, to the dyeing temperature together with the material to be dyed and then metering in the sulfuric acid under isothermal conditions at the dyeing temperature it is possible to obtain very level and very fast dyeings in a significantly shorter overall dyeing time. Carbonized wool can be dyed without prior neutralization.

Abstract: A process for the dyeing of textiles consisting of wool without anti-felt finish or wool having an anti-felt finish in the form of a coating of a polyimine resin or a polyacrylic resin, or textiles containing such wool, with reactive dyes according to the exhaust method, which comprises dyeing said textiles in aqueous dyeing baths containing at least one commercial reactive dyestuff the starting pH of which is in the weakly acidic to neutral range, by heating rapidly to the dyeing temperature of 110 DEG to 125 DEG C. immediately after addition of the dissolved dyestuff, and by dyeing at this temperature for 10 to 20 minutes, while omitting the addition of pH-regulating substances during the whole dyeing operation.

Abstract: Fabric webs prepared for dyeing, preferably those consisting of natural fibres, absorb moisture from the atmosphere during storage. The moisture distribution often varies by 4 to 8% within a fabric-web package and becomes noticeable as unevenness during the application of the dyestuff, for example padding or minimum application. However, a fabric web must arrive for application with a moisture which is uniform over width and length. According to the invention, this object is now achieved in that the moisture is equalised by a brief steaming of the fabric web and by guiding it through a controllable IR field with a subsequent cooling zone. A subsequent moisture measurement serves, on the one hand, for controlling the IR field and, on the other hand, at the same time for determining the entry moisture directly upstream of the applicator unit.
