Abstract: Process and apparatus for applying in a continuous and level manner aqueous impregnating liquors to water-wet textile goods to prevent unlevelness of the liquor applied to the goods. This is accomplished by partly or completely exchanging the moisture on the goods by sucking or pressing liquor through the goods and by circulating the liquor to be applied while maintaining its volume and concentration at a constant value. The new technique makes it possible to dispense with the customary intermediate drying stage after the pretreatment.

Abstract: of the disclosure: In the continuous application of impregnating liquors to a wet textile web, there is a risk of the liquor being diluted by the moisture carried over by the textile material from the pretreatment, which, when dyeing liquors are applied, would immediately become visible to the naked eye by there being unlevelness between the ends of the web. There are also problems in respect of the levelness of the goods because of the non-uniform moisture content of the textile material which is a consequence of variable squeezing performance on the pad-mangle across the width of the web. The novel process and device eliminate the problems which hitherto went hand in hand with wet-on-wet application by partly or completely exchanging the moisture on the goods by sucking or pressing liquor through the goods and by circulating the liquor to be applied while maintaining its volume and concentration at a constant value. The new technique makes it possible to dispense with the customary intermediate drying stage after the pretreatment.

Abstract: The very economical padding methods for applying liquid treatment agents and which have largely become established for flat-lying material are also interesting for dyeing and finishing tubular textile material. In the latter case, the use of this technique is however opposed by the finding that on impregnating circular-knitted goods on a pad mangle the squeeze edges are marked on both sides of the tube, which gives rise, for example, to undesirable color differences. According to the invention, this adverse phenomenon and the problems arising therefrom can be avoided if, through maintaining a relatively high liquor pick-up by the textile material and through mechanical shifting of the edges, the liquor is enabled to level out any unevenness produced on squeezing.

Abstract: The cellulose fibres are treated with an aqueous liquor containing a wetting agent, an optionally quaternised reaction product of polyethyleneimine with a bifunctional alkylating agent, and an anionic surfactant, and the material is dried and dyed without addition of alkali. This process can also be combined with a sizing process. The dyeings obtained are unlevel, making the textile materials suitable for making up into fashionable articles.

Abstract: In order to maintain at a constant value the quantity of liquor applied in the wet-on-wet application of two liquors of differing composition, it is necessary that the fabric web which is wet from the preceding wet treatment is first uniformly partially dewatered and the second liquor is then applied uniformly. By using high-moisture measuring instruments after the dewatering and also controlling the same with the aid of measured values, and by proceeding similarly after the repeated application of liquor, it is possible to stay within the tolerances which are necessary to ensure the uniformity of the two processes.

Abstract: The invention relates to dispersing agents based on a mixture of at least one compound of the formula 1 in which Ar is benzene or naphthalene, X is -CH2-CH2- and/or -CH2-CH(CH3)-, 0 to (m-1) of the radicals A are hydrogen, 1 to m of the radicals A are benzoyl and/or naphthoyl, 1 to m of the radicals A are -CO-CM=CH-COOM and/or -CO-CH2-CH(SO3M)-COOM, M being a cation, R , R and R are hydrogen and/or alkyl having 1 to 14 carbon atoms, R is hydrogen and/or alkyl having 1 to 9 carbon atoms, n is a number from 1 to 150 and m is a number from 2 to 12, with compounds of the formula 2 in which R and R independently of one another are an alkyl group from methyl to butyl and are in the m-position relative to the hydroxyl group, R is hydrogen or methyl and Me is a cation, especially a proton or an alkali metal cation, alkaline earth metal cation or ammonium cation, and x and y are the numbers 0, 1 and 2, the total of these numbers being at least 1. The dispersing agents according to the invention are suitable for preparing dispersions of dyes, pigments, plant protection agents and pesticides and for preparing dyeing baths, padding baths and pastes for paper printing and textile printing.
