    Abstract: The known production of alkane phosphonic acid diesters from olefins and dialkylphosphites in the presence of free radical generators is improved by using Alpha -olefins having an extremely low content of sulfur. Thus high yields and pure products are obtained within short reaction times. The known products are foam depressants, anticorrosives, oiladditives, dyeing adjuvants and organic intermediates, expecially for plant protecting agents.

    Abstract: 1375631 Rolling lubricants FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 25 Jan 1972 [26 Jan 1971] 3446/72 Addition to 1375632 Heading B3M [Also in Division C5] Metals, e.g. iron and iron alloys, are coldrolled using an aqueous substantially oil-free composition containing (A) at least one watersoluble amine salt of an aryl-sulphnamidoalkylene carboxylic acid and (B) at least one polyaddition product containing residues of (1) ethylene oxide and (2) propylene oxide and/or butylene oxide. Component (B) may be an adduct of the alkylene oxide with diols, polyols, mono-amines, polyamines, alkanolamines, carboxylic acids and amides, or phenols. The saltforming amine is preferably an ethanolamine or isopropanolamine. The composition may contain 0À1-5 wt. per cent of A and 0À5-12 wt. per cent of B. Very many (A) and (B) components are listed. In an example, cast steel is rolled at 6À0 m./min. using chromium steel rolls. The cast steel is sprayed with a 1 : 1 mixture of an 85% aqueous solution of a triethanol-ammonium salt of benzene sulphonyl-N-methyl-#- amino-caproic acid and an ethylene oxide/ polypropylene glycol addition product, the mixture being diluted 1 : 20 with water. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 1,222,254 and 1,236,638.
