    Abstract: A multilayer film (1) of a thickness of 200 to 750 mu m comprises a plastic supporting film (2) as a crystal-clear rigid PVC, polypropylene or polyethylene, a pigmented coating layer (3), a metal layer (4) vapour-deposited thereupon, and a clear protective coating (5) which is applied to the metal layer (4). The coating layer is tinged with bronze, copper or brass and, like the metal layer (4), is arranged on the inner side of the supporting film (2), i.e. on the side which faces the surface to be closed off. Material from a roll or a cut-to-size piece from the roll of material of multilayer film (1) is shaped into the desired moulding, for example a hollow-cylindrical sleeve for a straight section of pipe, and heated up to a temperature of 65 to 70 DEG C during a time period of up to 8 hours. The shaping of curved mouldings for pipe bends is performed for example by vacuum forming.
