Abstract:
POLYOXYMETHYLENE ARE DISPERSED IN WATER BY SUSPENDING POLYOXYMETHYLENE PARTICLES IN WATER AND THEN COMMINUTING THE PARTICLES OF THE SUSPENSION, THE POLYOXYMETHYLENE THUS BEING DIRECTLY DISPERSED. FOR THE DIRECT DISPERSION THERE ARE USED POLYOXYMETHYLENES HAVING HYDROPHILIC GROUPS, FOR EXAMPLE, CARBOXYLATE GROUPS. AQUEOUS POLYOXYMETHYLENE DISPERSION THUS PREPARED ARE SUITABLE FOR THE PREPARATION OF COATINGS, IN PARTICULAR FOR PAPER AND TEXTILES.
Abstract:
1. IN A PROCESS FOR PRODUCING MOLDABLE HOMOPOLYMERS OF TRIOXANE OR COPOLYMERS COMPRISING A MAJOR AMOUNT OF UNITS DERIVED FROM TRIOXANE AND A MINOR AMOUNT OF UNITS DERIVED FROM A LINEAR ACETAL OF AN A,W-DIOL OR A CYCLIC ACETAL OF THE FORMULA
O WHEREIN R1, R2, R3 AND R4 MAY BE THE SAME OR DIFFERENT REPRESENT HYDROGEN OR AN ALKYL GROUP WHICH CAN BE HALOGEN-SUBSTITUTED, R5 REPRESENTS AN OXYMETHYLENE RADICAL WHICH CAN BE SUBSTITUTED BY AN ALKYL OR HALOGEN-SUBSTITUTED ALKYL GROUP, AND N IS 1 TO 3, OR WHEN N IS 1, R5 CAN BE THE RADICAL -(O-CH2CH2)M-OCH2- WHEREIN M IS 1 TO 3, AT A TEMPERATURE BETWEEN THE MELTING POINT AND BOILING POINT OF THE MONOMER OR MONOMER MIXTURE IN THE PRESENCE OF A PROTONIC ACID, THE IMPROVEMENT WHICH CONSISTS IN USING AN ANHYDROUS PERFLUOROALKYL SULFONIC ACID WITH 1 TO 18 CARBON ATOMS AS THE PROTONIC ACID.
Abstract:
Oxymethylene polymers (POM) are obtained in granular form by cooling a POM solution or dispersion having a temperature above the sintering temperature of the POM in two stages to a temperature just below the said sintering temperature. The solvent or dispersion agent used is a mixture of methanol and water and the cooling agent is a methanol/water mixture which may contain POM suspended therein. The granular POM obtained is suitable as technical material for making shaped articles.
Abstract:
of the disclosure: Granular oxymethlene polymers are prepared by cooling a solution or dispersion of an oxymethylene polymer, the temperature of the said solution of dispersion polymer, to a temperature just below the said sintering temperature. As dissolving or dispersing agent there is used a mixture of methanol and water. The cooling of the said solution of dispersion is effected in two stages while using a liquid cooling agent or a cooling device. After precipitation the coarse-granular polymer is separated from the fine-granular portion. It is suitable as engineering plastic for preparing molded articles.
