By using these dispersions, which contain the pigments in a very finely divided form, it is possible to obtain thorough penetration of the leather with improved light fastness.

    Abstract: Leather is hydrophobised and elophobised by treatment with resins, quat. ammonium cpds., amines or polymers, before, or at the same time as, impregnation with fluoro-chemicals. The amt. of resin, quat. ammonium cpd., amine or polymer is pref.0.05-10 wt.%, w.r.t. the pared wt., or 0.1-20%, w.r.t. the dry wt. Impregnation with the fluoro-chemicals and the auxiliaries may be combined with a stuffing impregnation sealing the inter-fibre spaces.
