Abstract: Before impregnation with the fluorine chemicals, the leather is treated with a resin, quaternary ammonium compound, amine or polymer. By means of these assistants, a constant efficiency of the fluorine chemicals acting on the surface is achieved, regardless of the procedure or of the chemicals introduced beforehand into the leather. These assistants may alternatively be applied to the leather together with the fluorine chemicals.
