    Abstract: Intense azo pigment formulations which have good flow and are readily dispersible are obtained on adding a long-chain aliphatic primary amine and a diamine of the formula H2N-A-NH2 in which A is an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having 6 to 30 C atoms, before, during or preferably after the coupling. The formulations are in particular suitable for intaglio printing inks which produce glossy prints which do not even strike through thin papers.

    Abstract: 1388139 Azo pigment peparations HOECHST AG 1 May 1972 [3 May 1971] 20113/72 Headings C4P and C4A Azo pigment preparations are prepared by adding an amine of general formula or a salt thereof, in which formula R is an unsubstituted or substituted phenyl radical, n is an integer 1 to 10, x is an integer 2 to 10, y is an integer 1 to 5, to the azo pigment, or pigment components before, during or after coupling of the pigment. The amount of amine may be 1 to 100% calculated on the weight of the pigment, preferred amines being N-benzyl-propylene-diamine, N-#-phenethyl-propylene-diamine, and N - 4 - methylbenzyl - propylene - diamine. The radical R may be substituted by nitro, halogeno, alkoxy and alkyl substituents. The amine may be added to an aqueous suspension of the pigment or pigment components which may be heated optionally under pressure. Printing inks prepared with the amine treated pigments have good rheological properties.

    Abstract: The invention relates to surface-active agents of the formula A-[(X-O)n-Y-Z]m where A is a radical of a modified or unmodified natural resin or an esterification product thereof with a polyhydric alcohol, X is 1,2-ethylene or -propylene, Y has the same definition as X or is -CH2CHOHCH2-, Z is OH or (Ia> (-NH-Q)a-NR-(Q-NH-)bH where R is hydrogen or C1-C24-alkyl or (-CH2CH2O)p-H, where p is 1-100, or (-Q-NH)c-H, Q is C1-C24-alkylene, which may be interrupted by oxygen atoms, a is 0-5 and c is 0-5, at least one Z not being OH, n is from 0 to 150, and m is from 1 to 5. The compounds are obtained by alkoxylating resins or esterification products thereof with polyhydric alcohols and, after hydroxyl groups have been converted into suitable leaving groups, reacting with amines of the formula Z-H. The products are suitable in particular for use as coupling aids, dispersants and finishing aids for colorants.

    Abstract: A form of the disazo pigment C.I. 20040 having the formula 30% of +TR IS SHOWN HAVING IMPROVED COVERING POWER, IMPROVED FLUIDITY IN LACQUER SYSTEMS AND HIGH LUSTER, WHICH IS CHARACTERIZED BY A SPECIFIC SURFACE OF 10 - 20, PREFERABLY 12 - 17 M2/G AND A MAXIMUM IN GRAIN DIAMETER DISTRIBUTION BETWEEN 500 AND 1000 NM, AT LEAST 30 % OF ALL GRAINS HAVING A DIAMETER OF FROM 500 TO 1000 NM AND LESS THAN 25% OF ALL GRAINS HAVING A DIAMETER OR MORE THAN 1000 NM. This new pigment is obtained by isolating the pigment, after coupling, by stirring it out with alkali and, after having filtered it off and washed until neutrality, heating it to temperatures above 100 DEG C with an organic solvent which is immiscible with water or miscible with water to a limited degree only.
