Abstract: Copolymers (I) contg. 10-60 wt.% bivalent units of formula(A), 30-89 wt.% units (B) and 1-20 wt.% units (C) are new: R1, R2 = H or 1-6C alkyl; a, b = 0 or 1; a + b = 1; X, Y = -NHR3, -N(R3)2, -OR4, 1-40C alkyl, 5-20C cycloalkyl or 6-18C aryl; R3 = 1-40C alkyl, 3-40C alkenyl, 5-20C cycloalkyl or 6-18C aryl; R4 = H, alkali metal cation, equiv. alkaline earth metal cation, (R3)2H2N+ or R3H3N+; R5 = H or 1-4C alkyl; R6 = 6-40C alkyl or 6-18C aryl; n = 6-24. Also claimed is a process for the prodn. of (I), by reacting monomers of formula (D) and/or (E) together with monomers (F) and (G) at 120-300 deg.C, followed by solvolysis of anhydride gps.:
