Abstract: 1391618 Perfluorocarboxylic acid derivatives HOECHST AG 2 June 1972 [2 June 1971] 25903/72 Heading C2C [Also in Division B1] Novel perfluorocarboxylic acid derivatives of formula RfCO.NH.(CH 2 ) 3 .Y where Rf is an unbranched C 6 -C 10 perfluoroalkyl group and Y is a group of formulae -N[(CH 2 CH 2 O) n H] 2 , [(CH 2 ) q COO - ] or where R is C 1 -C 4 alkyl, X- is a halogen, sulphate or methosulphate anion, n is 1-5 and q is 1 or 2, are prepared by reacting an alkyl perfluoroalkanoate of formula RfCOOR‹ where R‹ is alkyl, with N,N-di-#-hydroxyethylpropylenediamine followed by optional etherification, esterification, or quaternization. The novel derivatives are used as melting and dispersing agents and as emulsifiers.

Abstract: 1346644 Fluoroalkyl sulphonamides FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 14 April 1971 [19 March 1970] 24521/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division C5] Compounds of formula wherein R f is a C 4-10 perfluoroalkyl group, n is 2 or more, m is 2 to 6, R 1 and R 11 are C 1-4 alkyl, R 111 is hydrogen, C 1-4 alkyl or an aralkyl group having 1 or 2 carbon atoms in the alkylene moiety, X is an anion and A is a C 1-4 alkylene group, are prepared by reaction of a sulphonyl halide of formula R f (CH 2 ) n SO 2 Cl with a diamine of formula NH 2 (CH 2 ) m NR 1 R 11 , followed if desired by salt formation. The betaines are obtained by reaction with a halocarboxylic acid, or an alkali or alkaline earth metal salt thereof, or with a lactone. The products are surface active or inter-face active agents, in particular wetting, foaming, emulsifying and dispersing agents, and may be used in dry-cleaning compositions.
