Abstract:
Copolymers made from Alpha -hydroxyacrylic acid and acrylic acid. The copolymers contain between 9 and 85 mol percent of acrylic acid and have a specific viscosity within the range 0.05 to 1.0, determined on a 1 weight percent solution of the copolymers in aqueous 2N-sodium hydroxide solution, at 20*C.
Abstract:
Carrier-supported catalyst comprised of a mixture of aluminates of copper, manganese and nickel as is active ingredients, and of pure aluminum oxide as its carrier. The catalyst contains the aluminates in a total proportion of 10 to 45 weight % and may contain copper, manganese and nickel in a ratio by weight of (24) : (1-2) : (0.1-1). Between 0.5 and 10 weight % of cerium in oxide form may be further applied to the catalyst.
Abstract:
Water-soluble salts of acid carboxylic acid esters of bivalent aliphatic or olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acids or hydroxycarboxylic acids and at least trihydric aliphatic alcohols are used as builders for detergent and cleansing agents. Each hydroxylic group of the alcohol or optionally of the carboxylic acid has a carboxylic acid-molecule attached thereto.
Abstract:
Production of poly- Alpha -oxyacrylic acid by contacting a solution of Alpha -chloracrylic acid with one or more radicalyielding polymerization catalysts, heating and thereby hydrolyzing the resulting poly- Alpha -chloracrylic acid in queous solution with the resultant precipitation of solid polyAlpha -oxyacrylic acid and separating the poly- Alpha -oxyacrylic acid. More particularly, and aqueous Alpha -chloracrylic acid solution is contacted with the radical-yielding polymerization catalysts for a period of at least 30 minutes and, while leaving the resulting poly- Alpha -chloracrylic acid unseparated, it is heated for a period of at least 1 hour to temperatures within the range 80* and 110*C.

Abstract:
The disclosure relates to a process for making catalytically active aluminosilicates from glasses by hydrothermal crystallization. The hydrothermal crystallization is more particularly effected in the presence of an aqueous solution of an inorganic alkali metal compound producing an alkaline reaction. Useful alkali metal compounds comprise alkali metal carbonate, water glass, alkali metal hydroxide or alkali metal phosphate. The catalytically active aluminosilicates can be used for dehydrating alcohols, ethers and other oxygen-contain-ing organic compounds with formation of hydrocarbons, or for isomerizing or alkylating hydrocarbons.
Abstract:
PROCESS FOR MAKING ACETIC ANHYDRIDE The disclosure relates to a process for making acetic anhydride by reacting methyl acetate and/or dimethylether with carbon monoxide, if desired in admixture with up to 20 volume % hydrogen, under practically anhydrous conditions at temperatures of 120 to 270.degree.C, under pressures of 1 to 500 bars in the presence of a catalyst system containing nickel or a nickel compound, an organic iodine or bromine compound as well as a tertiary or quaternary organic phosphorus compound. More particularly, a catalyst system containing a titanium or zirconium compound as an additional constituent is used,
