Thermoplastic copolymer beads containing a blowing agent are made by copolymerizing in aq. suspension and in the presence of 4-12% by wt. of at least one blowing agent, a mixture of 70-99À9% by wt. of styrene, 0-30% of acrylonitrile, an acrylate or methacrylate, and 0À01-0À1% of a vinyl polysiloxane containing units of formula where R 1 and R 2 are C 1-4 alkyl groups, the ratio of units I to II being 1: 4 to 1: 50, the terminal groups of the polysiloxane being hydroxyl groups and the mean mol. wt. being 1000-5000 The polysiloxane may be obtained by the cohydrolysis of Cl 2 Si(CH 3 )CH=CH 2 and Cl 2 Si- (CH 3 ) 2 . The blowing agent may be n-, iso- or cyclo-pentane, methyl or methylene chloride or trichlorofluoromethane.
